Hi pookies <3 welcome to my blog.
I'm going to be sharing things that I've been obsessed with recently; whether that's fashion, books, music, film, food, idk. You get it. I list it, I love it. I feel like I'm living out my early 2000s dream, finally writing my own blog. The goal here is not to be eloquent, groundbreaking, so on and so forth.
First and foremost, let's start with Lady Gaga's "Abracadabra". I could easily stop there, but I'll list the reasons for my crush anyway.
1) She is so back
2) The performance aspect. She's grown so much as a performer and you can tell how fully embodied she is. After binge watching her older music videos, I noticed she was dead-eyed in most of them, always keeping a degree of separation between her and the music/character/camera, whichever it may be. She's taken the time to explore different facets of herself and it shows. I believe it to be a bittersweet coming home to herself. She is both the past and the present.
3) Visually and sonically stunning. The scene where the audio changes from recording to live audio from the set, UGH. Truly gave me chills. Lest we forget the choreography!? You can see the difference in emotion between the protagonist and antagonist through their movement, but you can also catch other subtle nuances, like the shift from fluid to robotic movements matching the change in beats.
4) The song itself is addicting for my little brain. It's most likely going to be my most played song in my Spotify Wrapped. I'm pretty sure I played it for 4 hours straight xoxo
5) Esoteric symbols babyyyy. Most importantly the upside down triangle, symbolizing the goddess. This energy inspires and empowers us to create. What are we willing to give up in order to embody this energy? Remember, the ego resists what the soul insists. Of course, we also have the title 'Abracadabra' meaning "I create when I speak". Guess what...if you write the spell downwards (inverted triangle), it help rids oneself of evil...and who do we see die at the end of the music video? Thank you.
Here. Take it.
